12-Sep-11: The 1 hour programmes started with extended highlights from the India Open Superseries (repeated 3 times over 24 hours), and continue with coverage of the Singapore and Indonesian events later in September.
Further airtime has been confirmed for 1 hour highlights programmes covering the China Masters Superseries and Japan Open Superseries. These are scheduled to be broadcast in late October and early November. Adrian Christy, Chief Executive of BADMINTON England, said of the agreement "It is really positive news that Sky have shown a commitment to broadcasting more badminton coverage and we are working with them to extend this to even more hours in the future.
"We will keep pushing forward
to get the levels of media coverage that our sport, and our players
deserve. Getting quality airtime and increased column inches in the press helps
badminton reach out to new audiences and is critical in our mission to get more
people back on to court." |
