One of the most important years in England’s sporting history has past and 2013 now brings hope, anticipation and excitement that we can further progress as a sporting nation to maintain the Olympic Legacy.
In less than one weeks time the Yonex All England Open will help support this legacy by taking place at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham to over 32,000 spectators over the six days of competition.
In addition to all the on-court action from the worlds best players, you can also catch badminton activities before play starts each day, showcasing differnt areas of the sport and giving social and club players the chance to play on the famous courts.
There will also be a Championship Show on Sunday 10th March before the finals start, so if you have a ticket for the Sunday, make sure you arrive when dorrs open to catch the entertainment.
Following their eye-brow raising performance at last year’s finals, the Birmingham-based Aston Performing Arts Academy (APAA) will debut their highly anticipated newly choreographed set. This energetic, dynamic and eclectic collective of singers, musicians and dancers this year on Finals Day APAA’s opener will feature 40 minutes of urban glee along with more than a few surprises, crowd interaction and the infamous BADMINTON England ’dance-cam’.
The NIA crowd will then be treated to a performance of rare grace, strength and flexibility as two aerial hoop artists are suspended from the arena ceiling. In the spotlight, powered by an upbeat and humorous soundtrack, these two accomplished gymnasts will show their circus skills, balancing ability and sheer trust in one another, winding down (or up) to a big finish when the scene is set for the entrance of the globally coveted trophies, followed by the best badminton players in the world.
The Championship Show starts at 11am. Please be in your seats for all of the other entertainment, competitions and fun by 10.30am.
